IELTS Vocabulary List For Modest User

IELTS Exam demands rich vocabulary that always improves overall band score. Though, all four sections require your high level of understanding, Speaking and Writing sectors require comparatively more preparation.

1. Esteemed
   Meaning: think highly of
   Sentence: We are going to name our new football field after our esteemed coach.
2. Vague
   Meaning: not precisely clear
   Sentence: He gave vague explanation of his absence from the class.
3. Catastrophe
   Meaning: extremely harmful, unfortunate
   Sentence: My speech was a total catastrophe.
4. Alias
   Meaning: name assumed temporarily
   Sentence: The merchant, alias mayor, could not be reached because of his busy schedule.
5. Bashful
   Meaning: self-consciously timid

6. Uncanny
   Meaning: surpassing ordinary or normal
   Sentence: She has an uncanny sense of direction.

   Sentence: Young people today are so apathetic about politics and religion.
8. Bona fide
   Meaning: genuine or real
   Sentence: She made him a bona fide deal to help him with studies
9. Expedite
   Meaning: make happen faster
   Sentence: Please expedite delivery of my package.
10. Mundane
    Meaning: dull, lacking excitement
    Sentence: She hates her job because she is asked to do mundane tasks everyday.
